The resistance of a product to corrosion caused by
atmospherical agents is considered one of the requirements for quality.
The more and more demanding international market has rendered the
determination of the resistance degree to corrosion indispensable,
according to a quantity of normatives. To such aim, the systems for
corrosion tests are assuming an always greater importance. With the room
for tests of corrosion in salt fog humid air it is possible to simulate in
the inside of a space the most disparate environmental conditions (es.,
salt fog, atmospheric pollution and corrosive gases) consistent to precise
norms. |

The tests in corrosive atmosphere are conceived to study
the behaviour of various materials and apparatuses, exposed to the effects
of atmospherical conditions rich with salt content (for example the places
near the sea, deserts with great salt sediments, etc.)
By means of such tests it is possible to analyse the
effects that the corrosion, main consequence of a salted atmosphere
attack, can provoke to materials and products; it becomes possible,
therefore, to find how to prevent such effects too.
An important aspect of the tests with salt fog is their
perfect reproducibility. With Perani chambers it is actually
possible to perform tests on any element with equal or different durations
and under the same corrosive atmosphere conditions. Our Salt Fog Chambers
allow the execution of accelerated tests in comparison with those carried
out in free atmosphere, with autonomous setting of time and
duration. Norms
Among the norms which can be executed are: UNE, (ASTM
1735 and ASTM-B-117-73), DIN 50.021, NES M-140, AFNOR X 41.002, 292
MIL-STD and method 101 D, NIL-STD-810C-509-1, etc... The main
differences among normatives are the concentration of the salted solution
used, the temperature in the inside of the room, the level of humidity and
the flow of pulverization. Our chambers are provided with a wide
adaptability of conditions, allowing the applications to many existing
normatives.
Construction
Our chambers are externally made with galvanized steel
sheet and painted with acrilic varnish in stew. The inner vane for test
performances consists of a single piece in conformed glass fiber,
perfectly resistant to salted atmosphere. The transparent meth-acrylate
cover allows the viewing of the inside vane during the test execution at
any moment. An internal chassis with an inclination of 30° for each side
assures the dripping of condensation drops from samples under testing. The
cover rests on an edge of the test vane from which a water channel assures
a perfect seal, thanks to the hydraulic connection that has
formed.
Autonomy
Besides the salt solution deposit with a limited
capacity (24 litres), an optional device has been foreseen for the keeping
of its constant level allowing, through the main deposit, the execution of
tests of long duration (until 100 hours).
Control Panel
All the systems of control and regulation are gathered
in order to be easily discovered and controlled.
On the panel the following devices are located:
